Backtick grave accent ` iPhone

The backtick (grave accent) ` character is missing from the iPhone and iPod touch normal keyboard layouts. ( as of OS 3.0 ) To use it, go into the mail app and in the email to/cc/bcc fields you should see the backtick in the upper left on the symbols virtual keyboard. Then just copy and paste it wherever you need it.

It might be helpful if a bunch of us complained about this missing key on the iPhone and iPod touch keyboards - leave feedback about the missing backtick/grave accent character at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Really stupid for them to have it on the email address fields even though it's an invalid char for email addresses.

My God, thank you for this. What a total oversight and I'm sure easily fixed, if they would just do it.

Far as I can tell the same issue exists in the iPad. It makes it hard when your password uses it...

Thanks Chief, I kept searching the web to find a place to copy the backtick from. Now i will copy from the mail app.

I followed your link and gave Stevie Jobs my two cents.

Hold down the single quotation mark for a second or two until options appear that include the accent character, then slide across to select it.

This character was added to the single quote button with iOS 4.2. Hold the single quote key for a couple of seconds, then select.

Happens as well on Nokia mini N97, no grave accent to be found. But then, on iPhone still the acute accent is missing, isn't it?
